24 Aug It’s Almost Fall | Cue the Moody Rooms
There has been a serious crisp in the air when I wake up in the morning. Fall always comes earlier to Jackson Hole…bringing with it the hint that in just a few weeks snow will cap the peaks and we will cozy up inside with a fire, thick sweaters and weighty down duvets.
After all of the bright colors and light textures of summer, I suddenly felt the need to find some inspiration for something a little darker. A little more moody. A little something like this…
My favorite UK paint company, Farrow and Ball, has a load of colors that are the ultimate in moody. This Stiffkey Blue No. 281 is inspired by the colorful mud at Stiffkey beach in Norfolk.
How to do moody rooms without going full bore Goth? Add a pop of pink, a hint of saffron yellow and a rich purple to the mix. This keeps it sexy and youthful.
Paint does the trick, but if you want serious drama, dark wood paneling is the only way to go. The modern quilt and textured bedspread keep it from feeling too old and fussy while the mirrored side table adds that final hint of lightness.
Dark and moody are stunning in a kitchen. After all of the bright white subway tile of the last 10 years, it’s refreshing to see this dark grey. Again, it’s lightened with the use of the rose pink cabinets and yellow-hued wood table. Absolutely divine.
