12 Jan These Side Tables Will Make You Swoon
Tim Gunn says it best: “Don’t forget to use the accessory wall, designers!”
I always say, when you accessorize your space it’s like adding the final flourishing touches to an outfit. You can have the best little black dress in the world, but it’s the perfect pair of shoes that makes your style pop. Side tables are a lot like that gorgeous pair of Louboutins. They bring character to your space and provide structure for the rest of your design to shine.
Boring side tables do the opposite. They are like finishing a Gucci lace midi-dress with a pair of green Crocs. (Can I get an AMEN?!)
Sexy, chunky, heavy, masculine, light and airy, abstract—there are so many cool, creative choices on the market, there is no excuse for a boring, wooden version with four legs and a small drawer.
To help you escape from the mundane side table syndrome, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite versions that make me swoon.
Side Tables to Love
Sexy & Shiny
Remember that scene from Ghost? You know the one with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze making sweet sweet…pottery. Tell me these tables don’t remind you of that scene. Ceramics aside, I love the Mille table—it’s sexy, offbeat and thoughtful. The random discs of gold give it a high glamour edge.
Modern & Glam
The combination of brass and marble is very versatile. I love it for everything from rustic to modern spaces. The natural elements and architectural/graphic base give it the right touch of modern design flexible for both styles.
Artistic & Sexy
This is less of a table and more like the little egg that could. Made of ceramic with a plaster-like finish, this is the ultimate art piece mixed with a tiny bit of function. Because the top is minuscule I would hesitate to use it as a side table and more as an interesting design element.
Color & Light
I’m OBSESSED with Sebastian Herkner. The range of colors for these tables is gorgeous and it drives me wild to see a 12”d end table paired with a luxurious sofa or chairs.
Traditional & Sophisticated
Simple and beautifully crafted, I like to think of these as the All-American side table. The design is perfect for more traditional styles without falling into a snooze fest.
Masculine & Sleek
The Bond table: sleek, modern, masculine, urban, gritty. I’ll try to refrain from making another movie reference, but I think you know where I’m going with this.
