Pins of the Week: Yellow is a Serious Ray of Sunshine

Pins of the Week: Yellow is a Serious Ray of Sunshine

Sunshine, butter, lemon, saffron, whatever you want to call it, yellow is serious ray of sunshine to just about everything. Bold, vivacious and in your face, it’s no doubt the patron saint color of happiness.

With the simple swipe of a paintbrush, it breathes life into tired spaces. Not ready for a commitment? Pillows, throws, lampshades, books, flowers, artwork…honestly, anything in yellow is going to immediately throw a hint of playfulness into the mix.

I’ve recently fallen head over heels with canary yellow furnishings, particularly vintage wooden chairs, stools, bookcases—anything that can use a good coat of paint.

Other ideas for yellow:

  • Reupholster a vintage chair in yellow and it immediately becomes fresh and modern.
  • Paint the trim in a doorway or around windows for an unexpected (non-committal) dash of color.
  • Floor to ceiling yellow drapes are dramatic but not overly traditional.
  • Yellow cabinets in a kitchen? Absolutely.

Want a little more inspiration? Here are some of my favorite pins from the last week.

A watercolor wall is totally of the moment, and a subtle but creative way to get a soft glow in a room.

Yellow wallpaper with ginkgo blossoms? Yes please, particularly when paired with a dramatic turquoise door.

Yellow Pins of the Week | Life's Too Short for BeigeFor a bit of sophistication that doesn’t take itself too seriously, a yellow leather chair is the way to go. Add yellow and gold accents to bring it all together.
